Protein is an essential element of every cell in the body, as we know a high protein diet can make kidney failure worse. It is an important building block of bones, muscles, skin, and blood. Excessive intake of protein like pulses, chicken mutton, fish causes excessive accumulation of acid in the body because when we consume such kind of animal protein, the body has to produce a large amount of acid which gets accumulated in the body. This acid is known as acidosis in this condition, the pH of the body decreases and this acid causes damage to the kidney, so it is advised to all kidney patients to completely avoid any kind of protein in kidney failure.

RECOMMENDED PROTEIN INTAKE –

1.WITH NO DIALYSIS: A healthy active person needs to stop eating their usual amounts of protein and restrict their intake because it increases the creatinine and urea levels. Sai Sanjivani recommends the right amount of protein for the body. This will help kidney patients to restore kidney function and reduce creatinine and urea levels. For kidney disease patients with no dialysis, a protein-free diet is recommended. If you have a body weight of 30-40 kg, then we may recommend protein intake. The amount of protein depends on factors such as creatinine level, protein loss, and body weight

2.WITH PRE DIALYSIS: Kidney patients with pre-dialysis may become underweight and they may have no option left except kidney transplant. Protein intake is recommended as per body weight and stage of kidney disease. If the patients have a body weight of 50 kg, then they may require 50 g of protein every day. The protein requirement for an average adult is 1 gram for every 1 kg of body weight.

3. WITH DIALYSIS: At Sai Sanjivani, we recommended a proper amount of protein intake for kidney failure patients. For dialysis patients whose weight is more than 50 kg, 50 grams of protein per day is prescribed by doctors of sai sanjivani.
